More festival confirmations

BSP will play the Get Loaded In The Park Festival on Clapham Common on Sunday the 27th August. The band will headline the second stage, hosted by John Kennedy. Tickets are priced £30 and available online from Ticketmaster or by phoning 08700 601801. The event runs from 12pm-9pm.

The band will also be appearing at the End Of The Road Festival between 15th-17th September. The festival is hosted at The Larmer Tree Gardens, which falls on the border between North Dorset and Wiltshire, close to Stonehenge. The organisers promise to make the festival different from the usual corporate vibe, and also promise parrots. Lots and lots and parrots. Confirmation on the day BSP are playing and ticket information will be available soon.

Update: BSP are now confirmed to play on the 16th September.

The stage times and support bands for the Great Escape festival in May have been announced. They are as follows:

Gig in Sheffield: Sex City

John Betjeman performances in Cornwall and London

British Sea Power have been asked to take part in two events celebrating the life and work of Sir John Betjeman. The band will first appear at the John Betjeman Cornish Birthday Party, Cornwall, on the 28th August before taking part in the John Betjeman Gala at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London on the 10th September. More information on both events is available in the Gigography.

In addition to this, the band will appear on a BBC2 documentary about the great man, set to be shown later this year. The band were interviewed by Griff Rhys-Jones and performed a cover of Betjeman’s “The Licorice Fields At Pontefract.” Screening date and time to follow.

Two gigs for the Great Escape

BSP will play twice at the Great Escape festival in Brighton in May. The band will play the Zap on the 18th May and then play a semi-acoustic gig at the Hanbury Ballroom on the 20th May. The Great Escape has concerts and panel discussions at various venues across Brighton and runs for three days. Passes for all three days at priced £35 and available through Single day tickets are not available.

Dot-to-Dot festival

BSP will play at the Dot-to-Dot Festival in Nottingham on the 28th May. The festival takes place over four venues in the city: the Rescue Rooms, the Social, Rock City and Stealth. The event runs from 2pm-4am, and features over 50 bands and DJs. Tickets are available from Alt Tickets or 0115 9588484 for £12.50.

More information on the Insomniacs Ball

British Sea Power will play the main room at the Insomnicacs Ball (information below). The main room has a capacity of 1,200 and also has a bar and toilets, so there’s no need to worry about needing to leave the room and not being able to get back in. BSP’s set will last for around 75mins and they should be finished by 2am.

BSP to play the Insomniacs Ball

On Thursday April 13th, BSP will headline The Insomniacs Ball at the SeOne club under London Bridge. Also playing will be Art Brut, The Pipettes and others. Doors will open at 8pm and the event runs until 6 in the morning. Christ. Tickets on sale on Thursday (16th February) from Ticketweb at £19.50 apiece.

Bye bye Eamon

That’s right – keyboardist Eamon has left BSP to concentrate on his other band, Brakes. Best of luck to that man.

One out, one in. While I’m here I’d like to take this opportunity welcome Mr Scott Booker of Hellfire LTD who will now be dealing with BSP management-type stuff. Good luck sir.

Club Sea Power support bands

The support bands for November’s Club Sea Power tour of the UK have been announced. They are as follows:

  • 17th Nov – Barrow In Furness: Music and films related to the venue
  • 19th Nov – Glasgow: Field Music
  • 20th Nov – Manchester: The Pipettes
  • 24th Nov – London: The Wurzels
  • 25th Nov – Nottingham: The Research
  • 26th Nov – Oxford: The Electric Soft Parade
  • 27th Nov – Cornwall: Morton Valence and more TBC
  • 28th Nov – Bristol: Special Guest TBC

In addition to this, BSP will be playing both a b-sides set and a main set at each of the venues. So, the nights run: b-sides set, support band, then the main set. With more acts set to be announced for Cornwall, it is possible the b-sides set will not be played there.
